Morning Matters Portfolio Update
For 2018, the S&P 500 is higher by 9.62% from 8.62% a week ago. So far this year the Morning Matters Portfolio is higher by 5.78%. The Russell 2000 for 2018 is higher by 12.03% from 11.64% last week. The Nasdaq Composite is still above 8000 since our last update but barely changed for the week. The Dow moves back above 26500 from 26000 since our last update.
The portfolio is now 50% invested long, 0% short and 50% in cash, net long 50%. For 2017, the value of the portfolio was 970.84%. So far in 2018, the portfolio value is 1042.80% from 1030.36%. For the year, we are up 6.90% from 5.78% a week ago.
This is excellent because we are only 50% invested and we beat the weekly return on the S&P 500. So our risk/reward ratio was excellent as we only needed to use 50% of our cash to beat the return of the S&P 500. Year to date we have been roughly 50% invested as well and as such our return should be 4.81% yet we are up 6.90%. You can sleep well with our portfolio.
We will do a full update next week and may add a new long position. Current names in the portfolio include:
Ford (F) Viacom (VIAB) Blackberry (BB) Exxon (XOM) China via FXI AT&T (T)
