Morning Matters:

The Week Ahead For The First Week Of November

The S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, Russell 2000 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were all higher for a third week in a row.

1.Geopolitical and Fiscal Events. The games continue in Washington D.C. as the House, Senate and President try to hammer out the Infrastructure Bill and Budget Reconciliation Bill in the next couple of weeks. The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) will issue its latest policy update on Wednesday followed by a presser.

2.Economic Releases. Releases of note this week include the weekly chain store sales, oil/gas numbers, mortgage applications and jobless claims as well as ISM Manufacturing Index, Construction Spending, ADP Employment Report, ISM Non-Manufacturing Index, Factory Orders, Nonfarm Payrolls and Unemployment Rate.

3.Earnings Releases. Notable releases this upcoming week include PSA NXPI PFE TMUS QCOM CVS BABA SQ ENB D.

Monday, November 1st

October ISM Manufacturing Index is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to 60.5% from 61.1%.

September Construction Spending is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to rise to 0.5% from 0.0%.

Tuesday, November 2nd

The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) begins its two-day meeting.

Wednesday, November 3rd

October ADP Employment Index is due out at 8:15 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to 370,000 from 568,000.

ISM Non-Manufacturing Index is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to 61.70% from 61.90%.

September Factory Orders is also due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to -0.1% from 1.2%.

The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) will conclude its latest meeting with their announcement at 2:00 p.m. followed by a presser at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Thursday, November 4th

None of note.

Friday, November 5th

October Nonfarm Payrolls is due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and is expected to rise to 400,000 from 194,000. The unemployment rate is expected to fall to 4.7% from 4.8%.
