Morning Matters:

The Week Ahead For April 27th to May 1st

The NASDAQ 100, Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 100 were lower for the week.

1.Geopolitical and Fiscal Events. The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) begins a two day meeting on Tuesday that will end on Wednesday. The Bank of Japan is out with its latest update on Tuesday. The European Central Bank is out with its decision on Thursday.

2.Economic Releases. Releases of note this week include the weekly chain store sales, oil/gas numbers, mortgage applications and jobless claims as well as Consumer Confidence, Q1 GDP, Pending Home Sales, FOMC rate decision, Personal Income, Chicago PMI, ISM Manufacturing Index and Construction Spending.

3.Earnings Releases. Notable releases this upcoming week include KDP PPG GOOGL MRK MSFT FB AAPL AMZN XOM CVX.

Monday, April 27

Tuesday, April 28

April Consumer Confidence is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to 86.5 from 120.

The Bank of Japan is out with its latest update and decision, no change expected.

Wednesday, April 29

Q1 GDP (Advanced) is due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and are expected to fall to -4.3% from 2.1%.

March Pending Home Sales is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and came in last month at 2.40%.

The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) concludes a two day meeting at 2:00 p.m. EDT and no changes are expected, press conference at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Thursday, April 30

March Personal Income are due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and are expected to fall to -1.5% from 0.6%.

April Chicago PMI is due out at 9:45 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall from 47.8 to 39..2.

The European Central Bank is out with its latest update and decision.

Friday, May 1

April ISM Manufacturing Index is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and are expected to fall to 39 from 49.1.

March Construction Spending is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to -3.5% from -1.3%
