IMF Lowers Growth Forecast, Who Cares?
by Geoff Garbacz

October 9, 2018

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered their global GDP growth forecast from 3.9% to 3.7%. This is not a big deal. Why?

First, the IMF is not a good forecaster. Second, this is simply fine tuning the forecast and not a drastic revision. The one plus is that it may slow the rise in U.S. interest rates that have seen yields go to a new high for the year.

The IMF also revised downward the U.S. growth rate to 2.5% from 2.9%.
